Clinical Skills University (CSU) Training
Job Description
As a CSU Trainer, your primary roles will be onboarding and training new hires through different modules of the CSU program, which includes but not limited to domain training, charts immersion, and process training. You are also expected to provide support during ramp phase and do random internal quality reviews aimed at identifying improvement and education areas that would benefit the staff. Additional duties, such as responding to support questions and providing continuous training and /or upskilling and support to the team, are also included in this role. You are expected to be up to date on the policies and guidelines by doing minimal production.
Responsibilities
Training & ramping new hires
Leading content and module development
Coordinating and conducting CSU classes
Creating and administering assessments to evaluate skills and knowledge of students
Communication with new staff and leadership
EMR Navigation Training and Application Training
Prescribed progress milestone review
Daily and weekly reporting to management
Random QA of trainees' casework
Updating of modules on need basis and contribution of learning materials as needed
Other duties as assigned by leadership (special projects, assessments, etc.)
Calibration sessions between Operations, Quality, and Training ensuring knowledge alignment
Production when available:
Review inpatient medical records for validation of DRG assignment.
Provide detailed rationale and supporting evidence for recommendations and findings
Utilize industry-recognized references to support their review findings, such as the ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, AHIMA Practice Briefs related to compliant querying, and AHA Coding Clinic
Qualifications
Education – BS degree with a high level of knowledge and relevant work experience
Must have an active professional (PRC) license (e.g. RN, RMT, RPh, etc)
+5 Years of total work experience in Medical Coding in Inpatient space, with at least 1.5 years of training specific experience
Current AHIMA/AAPC credentials such as CCS or CIC required. Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) credentials such as, CDIP and/or CCDS is a plus.
License/Certifications: Currently holds and maintain at least 1 role-related certification (CCS or CIC for Inpatient roles, CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P for outpatient roles)
Experience in any EMR Systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech
Effective communication skills, presentation skills, and proficiency in MS Excel & PowerPoint
