About the Role (Your Why)
The Database Administrator role provides complex technical maintenance and support services to our customer base. We like to bring people together in person when we can but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
What You’ll Do
- Installing and configuring Database systems, patching and upgrades.
- Implementing new Databases and associated objects.
- Monitoring and reporting on Database service availability.
- Managing the landscape of Development, Test and Production Databases.
- Conducting all aspects of Database capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning.
- Implementing, maintaining, enforcing and auditing Database security according to established security policies and standards.
- Performing Database backup, recovery and restoration.
- Liaising with application users to confirm requirements for systems backup and other requirements.
- Contributing to the development of policies and procedures governing corporate Database operations and related issues.
- Carrying out proactive tasks such as incident trending, monitoring and tuning thresholds, task automation and improving existing toolsets.
- Administering database software packages and patches.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 – 2022, including architecture, problem-solving, and performance tuning.
- Optional skills and knowledge in other database technologies
- Hands-on experience managing, installing and configuring single and clustered database instances, cloud migrations.
- Experience in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Etc.
- 2+ years of experience with large, complex corporate databases
- Automation and scripting.
- Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
And Desirably:
- Engineered systems.
- Related platform technologies (Unix/linux, Windows, third party products).
- Working on engineering engagements.
- Database upgrades, migrations and decommission activities.
- Automating deployment and / or operational tasks.
- Experience in other database technologies including Open-Source or Cloud databases.
