Job Description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Engineer- Mine Planning, who will ensuring efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible extraction of mineral resources. This role will report to the Senior Engineer - Mine Planning.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Develops short-term and long-term mine plans
- Analyzes geological data to optimize plans
- Assist in conducting risk assessments and developing risk mitigation plans
- Examines and defines factors that could adversely affect project task completion, delivery of contractual work products or achievement of departmental and organizational goals
- Identifies the risks of negative outcomes (including error or fraud)
- Communicates the impact of identified risks and recommends corrective action
- Analyzes the constructability or manufacturing feasibility of a project
- Identifies and assesses risk, reliability, and/or uncertainty in the design of an engineered component, system, or process including its impacts on the environment, economy, and society
Qualifications
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
- 2 years’ Experience within the underground mining environment or equivalent
- Registered Mining Engineer
- Driver’s license is a plus
- Radio Operator’s License is a plus
- Experience in mining operations (Surface and Underground)
- Knowledge in Deswik CAD, INX, principles of Drilling and Blasting, and production and development blasting schemes
