Job Description:
A Farm Technician in the hog industry is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of hog farming. This includes ensuring the health, well-being, and productivity of pigs, as well as maintaining farm equipment and systems. The role involves both physical and technical tasks, as well as monitoring animal health, managing feed, and supporting breeding operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Livestock Management:
- Pig Care: Monitor the health and well-being of pigs (sows, piglets, and market hogs).
- Feeding & Watering: Ensure that all hogs receive the correct nutrition and clean water regularly.
- Health Monitoring: Observe pigs for signs of illness or injury and report issues to the farm manager or veterinarian. Administer medications, vaccinations, or treatments as directed.
- Breeding Assistance: Assist with breeding procedures, including artificial insemination (AI) or natural mating, and monitor gestation cycles.
- Farrowing Assistance: Help with the birthing process (farrowing), ensuring the care of sows and piglets.
- Weaning and Piglet Care: Manage the weaning process and ensure piglets transition to solid food, and monitor growth rates.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: A graduate of BS Agriculture major in Animal Science related field.
- Experience: Previous experience working on a hog farm or in animal husbandry is highly preferred, though training may be provided.
- Knowledge of proper pig handling, care, and husbandry techniques.
- Good communication and attention to detail.
- Willing to be assigned at Quezon, Nueva Ecija
- Amenable to work in a stay in set-up
