An import/export staff member manages international trade operations by coordinating the movement of goods, ensuring regulatory compliance, handling customs documentation, and communicating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customers to facilitate smooth global transactions. Key responsibilities include preparing shipping documents like commercial invoices and bills of lading, tracking shipments, resolving logistical issues, negotiating with shipping companies, and maintaining accurate transaction records. - Documentation:Prepare, review, and file all necessary import and export documents, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
- Shipment Coordination:Arrange and monitor the movement of goods, coordinating with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
- Regulatory Compliance:Stay updated on and ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, tariffs, and taxes for all shipments.
- Communication:Liaise with suppliers, customers, government agencies, and logistics partners to manage expectations and resolve any issues.
- Logistics Management:Oversee the entire import/export process from booking to final delivery, including tracking shipments and managing inventory levels.
- Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and organized records of all import and export transactions, documentation, and payments.
- Problem Solving:Identify and resolve issues or delays that arise during the shipment process.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is often required.
- Proven experience in import-export operations, logistics, or a similar role.
- Experience with customs software and procedures.
