A Motorpool Head is responsible for overseeing the operations of a fleet of vehicles within an organization. Their primary duties include:
Fleet Management: Supervising the maintenance, scheduling, and deployment of vehicles to ensure they are used efficiently and effectively.
Maintenance Oversight: Coordinating routine maintenance and repairs to keep vehicles in good working condition and to prevent breakdowns.
Staff Supervision: Managing drivers, mechanics, and other related staff, ensuring they are properly trained and perform their duties.
Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, fuel consumption, and expenses.
Compliance: Ensuring that the fleet complies with local, state, and federal transportation laws and safety regulations.
Budget Management: Handling the budget related to the fleet operations, including fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and vehicle purchases.
Procurement: Managing the acquisition of new vehicles or equipment and making decisions about replacing or retiring vehicles.
Policy Development: Creating and implementing policies for vehicle use and driver behavior to enhance safety and efficiency.
