Key Responsibilities:
Monitor network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, firewalls, VPNs, cloud connections) using enterprise monitoring tools to ensure 24/7 availability.
Detect, respond to, and resolve incidents in real time, including network performance degradation, outages, or security anomalies.
Assist in maintaining high availability and redundancy of systems essential to financial transactions and trading platforms.
Perform Level 1 and Level 2 troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors.
Support regular network maintenance tasks including configuration updates, patching, and hardware upgrades with an emphasis on minimal downtime.
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI-DSS, SEC).
Document incidents, changes, and configurations accurately within ticketing and change management systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
Participate in a 24/7 rotation schedule, including weekends and holidays, to support always-on operations.
Assist in audits and disaster recovery tests as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience in a network operations or IT support role, preferably within financial services or a regulated environment.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP/OSPF routing protocols.
Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or Fortinet networking equipment.
Familiarity with NOC tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios) and ticketing systems.
Awareness of security practices and regulatory compliance in financial services.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.
Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructures.
Basic scripting knowledge for automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
Skills and Attributes:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication tailored for technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a mission-critical environment.
High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
Working Conditions:
Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
May require physical activity such as racking network gear in data centers.
High-pressure environment where uptime, speed, and accuracy are crucial.
