- Installing and maintaining water and drainage systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Diagnosing and repairing leaks, clogs, and other issues in plumbing systems.
- Inspecting plumbing systems for potential problems, ensuring compliance with building codes, and identifying areas needing repair or replacement.
- Testing plumbing systems for leaks, pressure, and functionality.
- Responding to emergency calls to address urgent plumbing issues, such as burst pipes or sewer backups. This often involves working outside of regular business hours.
- Understanding and interpreting blueprints and schematics to plan and execute plumbing installations.
- Proficient use of various tools and equipment, including pipe cutters, wrenches, soldering irons, and pressure testing equipment.
- Communicating with clients, understanding their needs, providing estimates, and explaining repair options. (Especially important for those working independently or in smaller businesses).
- Following all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
