Account Specific Roles and Responsibilities
- Request and process prior authorizations for medical procedures, services, or medications
- Contact insurance companies via phone to verify coverage and secure authorizations
- Accurately document authorization details, including reference numbers and validity dates
- Follow up on pending authorizations to ensure timely approval and avoid service delays
- Communicate authorization status with internal teams or healthcare providers as needed
- Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines and payer-specific requirements
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all authorization activities
- Escalate issues or denials to appropriate team members or supervisors
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and data privacy standards
Requirements
- Above average verbal and written English communication skills
- Prior experience in handling prior authorizations
- Experience in U.S. healthcare processes is preferred
- Familiarity with medical and diagnosis codes
- Strong attention to detail
