POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within the commissary and cloud kitchen facility, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency. This role involves supervising production staff, coordinating with different departments, and monitoring production processes to meet operational objectives. The Production Supervisor is a key player in maintaining the workflow, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Production Management and Coordination:

a. Supervise the production team, including cooks, assistants, and assembly line staff, to ensure efficient and timely output.

b. Coordinate with the Production Manager to plan and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts.

c. Oversee the preparation, cooking, assembly, and packaging of food items, ensuring adherence to recipe specifications, portioning, and presentation standards.

d. Monitor equipment and materials to ensure proper usage and minimize waste.

2. Quality and Food Safety Compliance:

a. Enforce strict adherence to food safety regulations, including HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other relevant standards.

b. Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in-process, and finished products to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards.

c. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality concerns, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

3. Team Leadership and Development:

a. Lead and supervise production staff, providing training, guidance, and support to foster a positive and productive working environment.

b. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members, recognizing strong performance and addressing areas for improvement.

c. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging staff to identify areas for process enhancements and efficiency gains.

4. Workflow and Process Optimization:

a. Analyze production workflow and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce production time without compromising quality.

b. Collaborate with the Production Manager and Maintenance team to minimize downtime and optimize the use of production equipment.

c. Identify areas for improvement in workflow, product handling, and equipment use, and recommend solutions to enhance productivity.

5. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

a. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations within the production area, including proper use of protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols.

b. Conduct safety training and regular checks to ensure a safe working environment.

c. Identify and report any potential safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or other risks, and take immediate action to mitigate them.

6. Inventory and Resource Management:

a. Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and other production essentials, coordinating with the warehouse team to ensure timely restocking.

b. Monitor material usage and wastage, working to minimize loss and maintain cost-effective operations.

c. Record and track production metrics, including yield, efficiency, and wastage rates, for reporting to management.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

a. Maintain accurate records of production activities, including production output, shift reports, and quality checks.

b. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports for review by the Production Manager.

c. Ensure that all production-related documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for audits or reviews.

COMPETENCIES

a. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

b. Good understanding of food safety and quality assurance practices.

c. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

d. Strong organizational and time-management skills.

e. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office) and experience with production software is a plus.

EDUCATION

● Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or Production Management is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

● Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food production, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role, preferably within a commissary, cloud kitchen, or food manufacturing facility.
