Overview: The quantity surveyor provides accurate cost estimates, monitors project expenses, and ensures cost-effectiveness throughout the project duration. He or she possesses strong analytical skills, excellent numerical abilities, and a thorough understanding of construction methodologies and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses, utilizing historical data, industry benchmarks, and current market rates.

2. Budget Management: Monitor project expenses and track costs against budget allocations, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

3. Procurement: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive bids for materials and subcontractor services, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely procurement to meet project deadlines.

4. Value Engineering: Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards, collaborating with project teams to implement cost-saving measures without compromising project objectives.

5. Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate project viability, identify potential cost risks, and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure.

6. Contract Administration: Assist in the preparation and review of contract documents, including scope of work, specifications, and terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with project requirements and cost objectives.

7. Change Management: Evaluate and assess change orders, variations, and claims, analyzing their impact on project costs and schedules, and negotiating equitable adjustments with stakeholders as necessary.

8. Progress Reporting: Generate accurate and timely progress reports, cost reports, and financial forecasts, providing project stakeholders with comprehensive insights into project performance and financial status.

9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, industry regulations, and company policies and procedures, maintaining accurate records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

10. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns, providing regular updates on project costs and progress, and fostering a collaborative working environment.

11. Rebar Cutting List Management: Coordinate with the engineering team to generate accurate rebar cutting lists based on project specifications and structural drawings. Ensure that the rebar cutting lists are comprehensive and aligned with project requirements to facilitate efficient procurement and installation of reinforcement materials.

12. Formwork Cutting List Oversight: Collaborate with the formwork design and construction teams to develop detailed formwork cutting lists tailored to project dimensions and configurations. Verify that the formwork cutting lists adhere to project specifications and construction standards to optimize material usage and minimize waste.

13. Budget Monitoring and Control: Implement robust budget monitoring and control mechanisms to track project expenses and expenditures related to quantities of rebar, formwork, and other construction materials. Regularly review budgetary allocations and actual costs, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to ensure adherence to financial targets and project profitability.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for building projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other factors.

· Analyze project plans and specifications, taking off quantities of materials needed.

· Compile bills of quantities, which detail the materials and labor required for each stage of construction.

· Assist with tender preparation by creating cost plans and evaluating bids from contractors.

· Negotiate contracts with subcontractors to secure the best value for the project.

· Monitor project costs throughout construction, identifying and managing cost variations.

· Prepare cost reports and forecasts to keep stakeholders informed of project finances.

· Analyze value engineering proposals to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

· Manage risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate financial risks.

· Ensure compliance with relevant construction regulations and cost control procedures.

· Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors.
