Job Description
A Wine Steward supports the sommelier or beverage manager in delivering excellent wine service to guests. This role focuses on wine presentation, assisting in inventory control, and ensuring the correct handling, storage, and serving of wines. The Wine Steward also assists in maintaining the wine list and may offer basic wine pairing suggestions to guests under the guidance of a sommelier.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in presenting and serving wine to guests during service
- Support the sommelier in maintaining and updating the wine list
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of wine inventory
- Replenish wine stock and manage cellar organization
- Help train junior staff on basic wine service procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of wine service areas
- Stay informed about new wine arrivals and seasonal selections
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in F&B or hospitality service, ideally with wine exposure
- Basic understanding of wine types, service, and storage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and a passion for wine and hospitality
- WSET Level 1 or Level 2 certification is a plus
- Willingness to learn and grow within the wine and beverage field
