I. Position Summary
A Cook Helper or Assistant Cook ensures the kitchen is orderly and assists cooks to prepare and arrange food. Their duties include cleaning the kitchen area, washing the dishes and utensils and ensuring that the cook has everything required to run the kitchen efficiently.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- As a cook helper you are also expected to comply with the conditions of the food hygiene policies.
- Prepare mis en place for the Commis Chef and the Chef de Partie
- Maintain clean working station
- Follow directions given by the cook and the Chef de Partie
- Follow food safety standards
- Clean kitchen area
- Wash dishes
- Prepare and arrange food
III. Job Requirements
- At least finished high school or vocational course
- Understanding of food safety
- Graduate from a culinary school is a plus
- Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products
- Willing to be trained
- Can work under pressure
