Barista / Sales Associate
JOB SUMMARY
The Barista/Sales Associate is responsible for crafting high-quality beverages and food items while delivering an exceptional customer experience and supporting the café’s retail and promotional sales goals. This role combines outstanding customer service, beverage preparation, and proactive selling. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, enjoys engaging with people, and is motivated to meet customer satisfaction and sales performance standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately.
- Engage with guests, answer questions about menu items, and offer personalized recommendations.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
Beverage & Food Preparation
- Prepare espresso drinks, teas, blended beverages, and food items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure consistency and quality of all products served.
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
Café Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area and café environment.
- Restock ingredients and supplies during shifts to avoid service interruptions.
- Participate in inventory monitoring and reporting.
Cash Handling
- Accurately operate the POS system for all transactions.
- Handle cash, card, and digital payments responsibly.
- Assist with end-of-day sales reports and reconciliation.
Team Collaboration
- Cooperate with fellow team members to deliver seamless service.
- Support daily opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and restocking.
- Engage in regular team briefings and training sessions.
Event Participation
- Represent Curve Café during off-site events, catering, and activations.
- Set up booths, serve beverages, and interact with guests to promote the brand.
- Maintain brand standards and product quality during external engagements.
Sales Responsibilities
- Promote featured drinks, food items, and limited-time offers to increase average ticket size.
- Upsell café merchandise, beans, syrups, coffee machines and other retail products.
- Educate customers about product features, flavor profiles, and promotional bundles.
- Track and achieve individual or team-based sales targets and KPIs.
- Assist in setting up in-store displays and maintaining appealing merchandising standards.
- Provide feedback to management on customer buying trends and product preferences.
- Encourage customer loyalty by promoting stamp cards, digital promotions, or referral programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in barista, retail, or sales roles is a plus.
- Knowledge of coffee, specialty beverages, or hospitality sales is an advantage.
- Enthusiasm for customer engagement and food & beverage culture.
