Job Summary
Cardiovascular is responsible for assisting cardiologist during cardiac testing and procedures, as well as for documenting patient data.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The position holder shall undertake the following functions:
- Operates and performs procedures such as electrocardiogram, treadmill stress test, 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and 24 hour holter monitoring.
- Performs 2D Echocardiogram or vascular procedure (arterial, venous and carotid duplex ultrasound).
- Operates the ultrasound console providing guidance to improve the quality of the images.
- Obtain and record medical history from the patient that is related to or may affect the procedure.
- Explain the procedure to the patient.
- Give the images an initial interpretation to detect any abnormalities, and transform them into photographs or video for further examination by the cardiologist.
- Help monitor and maintain the standards of quality achieved by the Cardiovascular Unit and also in developing the services in terms of quality, safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness, in accordance with Trust policy, whilst developing one’s own professionalism and expert knowledge and skills.
- Maintaining an ordered filing and retrieval system and/or electronic computer database of patients’ recordings, measurements, reports and attendance details and helping to provide the necessary statistical returns of activity etc.
- Sonographer will print out a report of all completed procedures for interpretation by a Cardiologist.
- Constantly monitor patients comfort and safety during procedures.
- Alert physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient’s response.
- Inspects and maintains equipment at the unit to ensure machine will work properly.
- Perform administrative work such as answering phone call inquiries, processing monthly census, inventories and filing patient’s information and documents.
- Responsible in releasing the results on time.
- Participates in quality improvement initiative activities of the organization.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of baccalaureate degree in any medical field.
Passed the licensure examination for the practice of the profession
Undergone Echocardiography or Vascular trainings and obtained a
certificate from a certified institution.
Experience: At least six months work experience.
