Cashier – Job Description
The Cashier is responsible for processing a variety of transactions including cash, debit, credit, and check payments through a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system in a retail environment. The role involves ensuring accurate and efficient transaction handling while providing excellent customer service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and respond to inquiries in a friendly and professional manner
- Process payments accurately using the POS system
- Determine and provide correct change
- Scan items for sale and record purchases
- Handle returns and exchanges following store policies
- Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the cashier area
- Promote a positive shopping experience for all customers
