Job Description:
The Clearing Assistant at GRBank will be responsible for supporting the bank’s clearing operations, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of clearing transactions such as checks, deposits, and other payment instruments. This role involves day-to-day clearance activities to facilitate smooth interbank settlements and proper record-keeping. The Clearing Assistant works closely with internal teams and external banks to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and bank policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of checks and clearing documents submitted by presenting banks.
- Process inward and outward clearing transactions in a timely manner.
- Ensure the proper transmission of clearing items to the store or head office.
- Coordinate with other banks and branches to resolve clearing discrepancies and follow up on unsettled items.
- Maintain accurate records of clearing transactions and generate periodic reports for management.
- Handle related administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and record reconciliation.
- Assist in the maintenance and update of clearing procedures to comply with regulatory changes.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with internal staff or external parties.
- Perform additional duties related to clearing operations as assigned by the supervisor or department head.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Any relevant banking or finance certification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in banking operations, preferably in clearing or back-office transactions.
- Experience with check clearing, settlement processes, or related banking functions is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial documents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word; experience with banking software is a plus.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with banks, branches, and staff.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Highly organized, with good time management skills.
- Integrity and professionalism in handling confidential information.
