Skill Set Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in managing various database technologies: MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2.
- Familiarity with ITSM like ServiceNow
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database administration.
- Experience with database monitoring tools: such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, pgAdmin, MySQL Workbench, IBM Data Studio.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages: Python, Bash.
- Understanding of backup and recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of database security best practices.
- Experience with cluster administration, including Oracle RAC.
- Relevant certifications: Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, etc.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to database management.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of database management experience in a global enterprise environment.
- Ability to work in a 24x7 on-call after hour rotation environment.
- Relevant experience with following products is a plus; InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Must be amenable to work on a shifting schedule and hybrid work arrangement in Pasay City.
Role Description
Responsibilities:
- Database Housekeeping: Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure database systems (MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2) are clean, organized, and running efficiently.
- Change Implementation: Implement changes to database configurations, schemas, and settings as required.
- Incident Resolution: Respond to and resolve database-related incidents promptly to minimize downtime and impact.
- Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve recurring database issues to improve system stability and performance.
- Installation & Database Creation: Install database software and create new databases as needed.
- Database Administration: Manage and maintain database systems, ensuring their reliability, availability, and performance.
- User Management: Manage database user accounts, permissions, and roles.
- Database Patch Management: Apply patches and updates to database systems to ensure they are up-to-date and secure.
- Database Space Management : Monitor and manage database storage to ensure optimal space utilization.
- Cluster Administration (RAC): Administer and manage database clusters, including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor database systems (MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2) for performance, availability, and security issues using relevant monitoring tools.
- Incident Management: Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and outages.
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, patching, and upgrades.
- Change Management: Implement changes to database configurations and settings as required.
- User Support: Provide support to database users, including troubleshooting and resolving access issues.
- Reporting: Generate reports on database performance, incidents, and capacity planning.
