Reporting to Drill Maintenance Supervisor, the Drill Mechanic II is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance on drilling equipment used in heavy-duty operations. This position supports operational efficiency and uptime by ensuring that drills are maintained and repaired according to manufacturer standards and site requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout-tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work permit systems.
2. Use proper PPE and ensure that all work is performed per company safety standards and OEM guidelines.
3. Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings
4. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on various drill rigs (e.g., Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Epiroc).
5. Inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust components such as:
l Drilling rods and rotation heads
l Air compressor systems
l Hydraulic hoses, valves, and pumps
l Undercarriage components
6. Replace worn-out parts and components as needed.
7. Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical faults.
8. Diagnose issues in:
l Rotary head or hammer systems
l Control circuits (electrical and electronic)
l Diesel engines and air systems
l Track and mobility systems
9. Respond to breakdowns at drill sites with minimal supervision.
10. Use field-service vehicles and mobile equipment tools.
11. Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors to minimize downtime.
12. Fill out maintenance reports, service checklists, and parts usage logs.
13. Record work done in the maintenance management system (MMS or CMMS).
14. Report abnormal wear, operational issues, or potential failure points.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Vocational or Technical course in Mechanical Technology, Automotive, or related fields.
2. Minimum 2-3 yearsof experience in Heavy Equipment Servicing Automotive Technology or related course.
3. Preferred Exposure:
l Rotary, blast hole, or DTH drills
l Pneumatic/hydraulic systems
l Preferred maintenance conditions (Mines/Quarry)
4. NC II or NC III – Heavy Equipment Servicing (TESDA or equivalent)
5. Driver’s License (for field deployment)
