Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Farm Technician to support daily operations on a farm or research facility specializing in animal care and production. The Farm Technician will assist in the feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and general management of livestock or research animals, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Feed and water animals according to established schedules and nutritional guidelines.
- Monitor animal health and behavior; report signs of illness, injury, or distress.
- Assist in breeding programs, birthing, vaccinations, and treatment administration.
- Record animal weights, health data, feed consumption, and environmental conditions.
- Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery safely.
- Help implement biosecurity protocols and maintain hygiene standards.
- Support research activities by collecting samples or assisting in trials, if applicable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of livestock handling, nutrition, and health management.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a farm or agricultural setting.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with farm tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Recordkeeping and basic computer skills for data entry.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in animal welfare, agriculture, and sustainable farming practices.
