The Financial Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records, controls, and reporting processes. This role plays a key part in the financial governance framework by supporting risk management, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review request and disbursement documents to ensure validity and accuracy.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain and update financial control documentation (e.g., process flows, control matrices).
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through control testing and documentation.
- Support cross-functional teams in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Coordinate internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Review and improve existing financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent certification is a plus).
- 3–5 years of experience in financial control, audit, or accounting roles.
- Experience in a corporate finance, audit firm, or shared service environment preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
