Job Title: Legal Associate

Job Summary:
The Legal Associate provides essential support to the Chief Legal Counsel by conducting legal research, preparing and reviewing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Through proactive collaboration and expert guidance, the Legal Associate helps safeguard the organization’s interests and maintains adherence to its core values and principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Document Preparation and Review
- Draft, review, and revise contracts, agreements, deeds of donation/acceptance, and other legal instruments.
- Coordinate with departments to gather information for legal document preparation.
- Ensure all legal documents comply with laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Research and Analysis
- Conduct legal research on labor, property, taxation, and other relevant areas.
- Monitor changes in laws and assess impact on policies and procedures.
- Summarize findings in concise legal memoranda.
Litigation and Case Management
- Assist in case management including drafting pleadings.
- Coordinate with external counsel and legal consultants.
- Maintain and update case files and internal stakeholders.
Legal Compliance
- Provide legal assistance on compliance, contracts, corporate matters, and regulatory issues.
- Collaborate with HR for labor disputes and disciplinary procedures.
- Review affidavits, resolutions, and Secretary’s Certificates.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Document board meeting minutes and follow up on compliance actions.
- Coordinate with internal teams to implement legal recommendations.
- Maintain relationships with government agencies, donors, and partners.
Policy Development
- Assist in policy review and development in response to legal changes.
- Help create guidelines and SOPs for compliance and risk mitigation.
Other Duties
- Maintain organized legal records and prepare status reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Counsel or PRC.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- Must be admitted to the Philippine Bar and in good standing
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years relevant legal experience
- Strong experience in corporate, labor, and contract law
- Proficient in drafting legal documents and legal research
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong analytical and legal interpretation skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office applications
Work Environment:
- Office and field-based
- Equipment: Computer, printer, copier, scanner, phone
