Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Minimum one year experience as Medical Records maintenance required.
· Familiarity with filing and records management systems
· Computer literacy
·Training in quality management is desirable
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs job functions consistent with the Hospital’s mission and vision statements and witnesses the BHSMC core values in the discharge of his functions.
2. Maintains medical records operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
3. Secures all written and electronic medical records within the Hospital.
4. Ensures that information contained in the record is complete, accurate, and only available to authorized personnel.
5. Ensures medical record availability by routing records to admissions and emergency departments, physicians, and other authorized hospital staff; maintaining chart location systems.
6. Maintains historical reference by abstracting and coding clinical data, such as diseases, operations, procedures, and therapies, using standard classification systems under the supervision of the health Information and Medical Records Officer; filing documents.
7. Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential; following release-of-information protocols.
8. Maintains the stability and reputation of the hospital by complying with legal requirements.
9. Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
10. Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
11. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
12. Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous, germane, or related to and/or implied from the above enumeration of duties and responsibilities.
