Key Responsibilities:
· Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
· Assist patients with intake paperwork and verify patient information and insurance eligibility.
· Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
· Collect patient payments, copays, and co-insurance at the time of service.
· Answer telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries regarding appointments, billing, and services.
· Enter and update patient demographic and insurance data into EMR systems accurately.
· Process insurance authorizations and referrals as required.
· Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to prioritize patient needs and ensure smooth workflow.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
· Handle patient concerns and resolve problems, escalating issues when necessary.
· Assist patients with access to financial assistance programs such as sliding fee scales if applicable.
· Perform other clerical duties such as scanning documents, filing records, and participating in safety programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
· Basic knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.
· Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
· Team-oriented with collaborative skills to work effectively with healthcare providers and staff.
· Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not always required.
Work Environment:
· Often in outpatient clinics, medical offices, or telehealth settings.
· Fast-paced with frequent patient interaction.
May involve sitting for long periods and use of computer systems regularly
