Pharmacy Assistants are primarily responsible for directly supporting pharmacists, with daily duties and responsibilities including:
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications to customers or health professionals.
- Provide advice to customers under the direction of a pharmacist, such as guidance on medication usage and general health topics.
- Organize inventory and alert pharmacists on stock shortages.
- Manage the cash register and process payments.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy by adhering to infection-control policies and regulations.
- Update patient records and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Prepare medication for prescriptions by counting tablets and labeling bottles.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
