Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance:
- Ensuring adherence to environmental regulations, laws, permits, and ordinances.
- Monitoring activities pertaining to the installation or construction of pollution sources and control facilities.
- Applying for and securing necessary pollution permits and renewals.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitoring air, water, and soil quality.
- Monitoring pollution control facilities and equipment.
- Preparing and submitting reports to government agencies (e.g., DENR).
- Reporting on environmental incidents, accidents, and dangerous occurrences.
- Inspections and Audits:
- Conducting regular inspections and audits to identify potential environmental risks.
- Identifying storage and handling conditions appropriate for the use of chemicals.
- Determining areas for inspection.
- Pollution Control Measures:
- Developing and implementing pollution control measures and best practices.
- Supervising the proper operation and maintenance of pollution control facilities.
- Ensuring proper performance, operation, and maintenance of various facilities, including wastewater treatment, air pollution control devices, and hazardous waste storage areas.
- Training and Awareness:
- Conducting environmental orientation for employees, visitors, and stakeholders.
- Conducting internal environmental training.
- Promoting awareness of environmental responsibilities and the importance of pollution control.
- Permitting and Registration:
- Attending to all permitting and registration requirements of the establishment.
- Applying for and renewing permits (e.g., discharge permits, permits to operate air pollution source installations).
- Hazardous Waste Management:
- Monitoring generated and identified hazardous wastes.
- Ensuring proper storage and disposal of hazardous wastes, including obtaining Certificates of Treatment (COT).
- Ensuring that hazardous wastes disposed off-site are covered by a Permit to Transport and a hazardous waste manifest.
- Other Duties:
- Participating in public consultations and drills.
- Participating in multi-partite monitoring team activities and meetings.
- Liaising with government agencies (e.g., DENR, LLDA).
- Attending technical conferences, hearings, and meetings related to pollution cases.
