Job Description
The Technical Designer will create and implement complex technical and/or system design elements to assist in the creation of the game. Acting as a technical reference for team members, they will serve as a bridge between the tech and design teams and provide support whenever necessary.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement the technical elements of a game feature in with technical directors, programmers, and colleagues from other job families.
- Contribute to data optimization and validation by ensuring that colleagues comply with the technical standards and keep within budget constraints.
- Act as a technical expert on a specific topic and oversee tools and documentation, provide technical assistance, and define and promote best practices.
- Take part in advanced data debugging throughout production.
- Periodically provide feedback to design technical directors, including solutions to technical issues and suggestions to improve tools and methods, bugs, etc.
- Help test new features and tools before they are deployed to the rest of the team.
- Carry out production tasks supporting the game or level design and rapid prototype the gameplay features according to the design standards.
- Design and implement more complex, abstract, technically challenging, or game-wide design elements in the game.
Qualifications
- Experience in game design or level design (with a technical focus)
- Experience in engines or platforms, C# programming, and scripting
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with a range of 3D design software programs
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Adaptable, detail oriented, proactive, and autonomous
- Passion in understanding how things work and knowledge in video games will make a difference, particularly with Ubisoft and open-world games
