Job Summary: The Telephone Triage Nurse (RN) will continuously monitor, attend and respond to calls coming in through our emergency line after office hours. The Telephone Triage Nurse (RN) will provide timely and appropriate guidance to patients in the critical postoperative period and/or escalate to the appropriate surgeon as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Answer and respond to all incoming calls to our after-hours emergency line
- Listens to patient’s concerns and gathers appropriate information to provide guidance on proper care and/or understand when to escalate to the surgeon
- Respond to all incoming Post Op emails
- Create, work and close patient cases in Salesforce
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in Triage work, surgery and Urgent Care Support
- Familiarity in Salesforce (or other similar software)
- Advanced knowledge in medical terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across various audiences (i.e. patients, family members and physicians)
- Superior listening skills with the ability to quickly comprehend instructions in emergency situations
- Ability to frequently synthesize patient data and implement an action plan appropriate to the situation (strong critical thinking skills and good judgment)
Educational Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Holds and maintains an active PH Registered Nurse License
