They are also responsible for loading and unloading cargo, maintaining the vehicle, and adhering to traffic laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Driving: Operate a tractor-trailer truck safely and efficiently over various routes.
- Loading and Unloading: Ensure cargo is properly secured and loaded/unloaded safely.
- Route Planning: Plan and follow routes, often using technology like GPS, to optimize delivery times.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of trips, including logs, mileage, and delivery receipts.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic vehicle maintenance, such as refueling, and report any issues.
- Safety: Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communication: Communicate with dispatchers and customers, providing updates on delivery status.
- Problem Solving: Address any issues or delays encountered during a trip.
