Job Description
Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Kamusta, hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia, but with many of our Canvanauts calling the Philippines home, our office in Manila is a buzzing place. Whether your role needs you in the office, at home or a bit of both, we've created an environment that truly empowers you to thrive.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
The Trust & Safety Operations Specialist is a key individual contributor within the STOps team. You’ll combine deep operational trust expertise with cross-functional fluency, managing escalations, supporting vendor guidance, leading threat investigations, and collaborating on AI-driven classifier training and enforcement tooling.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-trust environments, handles ambiguity with resilience, and is passionate about reducing harm at scale.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
Abuse Investigation & Incident Response
- Lead triage and investigation of escalated abuse cases (e.g. deceptive, hate & discrimination, abuse & harassment, CSAM etc.)
- Manage high-sensitivity reports
- Lead or co-lead incident response, including on-call participation and post-mortems
Vendor & Policy Support
- Act as a point of contact for Tier 1 vendor support: quality escalations, training alignment, and policy reinforcement
- Deliver policy updates and edge-case clarification to vendor partners
- Collaborate on global enforcement consistency across workflows
AI Readiness & Risk Detection
- Participate in red-teaming exercises to surface classifier blind spots and gaps in detection coverage
- Label datasets, evaluate classifier output, and support trust model tuning
- Contribute to taxonomy refinement and safety signal developments
Cross-Functional Strategic Projects
- Represent STOps in cross-functional efforts within the wider Trust & Safety group or other relevant Canva teams
- Document patterns and trends from escalations to support policy, ML, and product strategy
- Assist in training and alignment across internal safety teams
You're probably a match if
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, abuse operations, or fraud investigation.
- You take ownership of high-risk investigations with clarity and independence, and you’re familiar with case investigation tools like Castle (or similar platforms).
- You bring experience or curiosity around AI readiness, including data labeling, prompt testing, classifier feedback, or red-teaming.
- You navigate emotionally sensitive content with strong self-care and resilience.
- You collaborate confidently across Policy, Product, Engineering, and Legal teams.
- You’re open to on-call or after-hours support as our safety coverage expands.
About the team
At Canva, our mission is to empower the world to design, but that empowerment only thrives when people feel safe to create, collaborate, and share. The Trust & Safety Group exists to make Canva the most trusted platform for safe, responsible design at a global scale.
Within this group, our Safety and Trust Operations (STOps) team acts as the frontline of platform integrity, handling high-priority abuse investigations, managing global vendor operations, and shaping scalable enforcement systems across automation and AI. We work across a broad spectrum of safety challenges, from child safety to deceptive content, harassment to fraud, with a focus on operational excellence, rapid response, and future-proof systems.
As Canva grows in reach and complexity, we’re evolving our safety infrastructure to meet new regulatory landscapes, content types, and abuse vectors. That means building not only reactive solutions, but proactive, model-informed defenses that scale across millions of users worldwide.
Abuse hurts communities and undermines trust, which is why we’re here to stop it, thoughtfully and relentlessly.
