The Vessel Accountant is responsible for handling the financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting for assigned vessels within OSM Thome. This role ensures compliance with financial policies, prepares accurate financial reports, and coordinates with internal stakeholders.
Duties
- Financial Transaction Management
o Record, summarize, and evaluate financial transactions, including accruals, in compliance with accounting standards.
o Ensure transactions are properly documented, classified, and reported. - Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Prepare monthly financial reports with relevant commentary on variances.
o Perform actual vs. budget analysis, identifying discrepancies and making necessary accruals based on trends, prepayments, and supporting systems (e.g., Eye-share).
o Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial records and reports. - Account Reconciliation & Settlement:
o Reconcile bank accounts and all balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely resolution of open balances.
o Identify discrepancies and work with relevant teams to settle outstanding amounts. - Procurement & Supplier Management:
o Import, review, and control the purchase order (PO) list to ensure financial accuracy.
o Follow up and ensure debit amounts are collected on time. - Fund Management & Requests:
o Prepare and submit monthly fund requests to ensure sufficient funding for vessel operations. - Compliance & Process Improvement:
o Ensure all financial activities adhere to company policies and international accounting standards

Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the maritime or ship management industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, and international accounting standards.
