A. JOB SUMMARY
The Airline Cargo Associate is responsible for handling cargo shipments, ensuring timely processing, loading, and unloading of freight in compliance with airline and regulatory guidelines. The role supports smooth cargo operations, including documentation, customer service, inventory management, and safety checks.
B*. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Receive, inspect, and process inbound and outbound cargo shipments.
- Prepare shipping documentation including airway bills, manifests, and customs declarations.
- Verify shipment details for accuracy and ensure compliance with airline, TSA, and IATA regulations.
- Load and unload cargo from aircraft, trucks, and warehouse storage areas using appropriate equipment.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, ground handling agents, customs, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure cargo is properly labeled, stored, and handled according to its nature (e.g., perishable, live animals).
- Monitor and report damaged, lost, or delayed shipments.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in cargo handling areas.
- Operate ground support equipment such as forklifts, dollies, and pallet jacks.
- Assist in inventory control and warehouse organization.
C. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; logistics or aviation training is a plus.
- Previous experience in cargo or warehouse operations preferred.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with cargo management systems.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 70 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of cargo handling regulations (TSA, FAA, IATA, DOT) preferred.
- Must be able to pass background checks and obtain airport security clearance.
D. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in warehouse and ramp environments.
- Requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and outdoor weather conditions.
