Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in customs regulations is a plus.
2. Proven experience working as a customs declarant officer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of customs procedures and documentation.
3. Knowledge of customs tariff codes, valuation methods, and import-export regulations.
4. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers, and customs officials.
6. Proficiency in using customs declaration software and tools for electronic submission of customs documentation.
7. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and submit accurate customs declarations for import and export shipments in compliance with customs regulations and laws.
2. Classify goods according to customs tariff codes and ensure accurate valuation for customs duties and taxes.
3. Communicate with clients, suppliers, and customs officials to obtain necessary documentation and information for customs clearance.
4. Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient clearance of goods through customs.
5. Resolve any issues or discrepancies in customs documentation, working closely with team members and stakeholders to find solutions.
6. Stay up-to-date on changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and trade policies to ensure compliance and minimize risks for the company.
7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of customs declarations, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements.
