Job Summary:
The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with established accounting standards and procedures. This role involves preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, processing transactions, and supporting the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls.
- Prepare and file tax documents and other regulatory reports as needed.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in general accounting or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS).
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
