Provides patient care to the hospital as directed by the nursing and medical staff. They are responsible to enhance patient’s hospital stay by assisting them in mobilization especially for those that are bed ridden. They also ensure the safety, comfort and general well being of the patients in the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care which includes transportation of patient whether for admittance or discharged, preparing patient for laboratories or operations, assist nurses for lifting, cleaning or turning patients that are bed ridden
- Assists patient in walking, exercising, moving in and out of bed
- Delivers interdepartmental messages, memos, documents and specimens
- Running errands for the hospital such as to buy medicines, materials and supplies when necessary and as directed by medical staff with approval of Maintenance and Orderly/Housekeeping Supervisor
- Responsible in maintaining hospital’s neatness by changing bed linens and cleaning rooms when necessary
- Provides assistance for emergency cases or critical situations when necessary such as measuring, recording vital signs, resuscitate and report changes to medical staffs
- Refers problems/issues to Supervisor as the need arises
