Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting on-site and off-site testing of construction materials (such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates) to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. This role supports the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) process for civil and infrastructure construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory and field tests on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials in accordance with project specifications and international standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, etc.).
- Prepare test samples, operate testing equipment, and record data accurately.
- Support quality control processes during construction by providing timely test results.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Assist in preparing test reports, certificates, and documentation for quality control records.
- Ensure safety procedures and hygiene standards are followed in the lab and at testing sites.
- Assist QA/QC engineers in sampling materials from batching plants, quarries, and construction sites.
- Maintain an organized and clean working environment in both field and lab.
- Communicate testing delays or abnormalities to the Laboratory Supervisor or QA/QC Engineer promptly.
Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Materials Testing, or a related technical field.
- 1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing (lab or field).
- Familiarity with standard test methods (e.g., slump test, compaction test, sieve analysis, proctor test, cube/crushing strength test).
- Ability to read and interpret technical standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient in data recording and basic reporting.
- Physically fit to work on construction sites and in a lab setting.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in infrastructure projects such as highways, airports, bridges, or large-scale civil works.
- Knowledge of relevant QA/QC and health & safety practices.
- MUST WILLING TO WORK ONSITE IN MASINLOC, ZAMBALES
