The Material Planner is responsible for managing material requirements, inventory control, and purchase order generation to support efficient production processes. This role involves analyzing historical data, sales forecasts, and production schedules to predict material needs, collaborating with production and R&D teams, and ensuring timely material availability. The Material Planner will monitor stock levels, manage inventory reconciliations, and issue materials based on Bills of Materials (BOM). Additionally, the position requires regular reporting, coordination with purchasing teams for timely delivery, and the optimization of materials management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze demand, production schedules, and forecasts to predict material requirements.
- Collaborate with production and R&D teams to manage material adjustments.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock and minimizing excess.
- Set reorder points, track inventory discrepancies, and conduct regular stock counts.
- Generate and track purchase orders, ensuring timely procurement of materials.
- Issue materials based on BOM, track material usage, and avoid over-issuance.
- Regularly update and report on material usage, inventory, and delivery status.
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings and support BOM optimization efforts.
This position ensures the seamless flow of materials for production and contributes to the overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness of operations.
