BASIC FUNCTIONS
Under general supervision, the Medical Supply Unit Assistant fills and dispenses drugs and medical supplies to in-patient and out-patients ordered or prescribed by a licensed physician or dentist.
Education : Graduate of any two-year course (preferably in Nursing or Medical Allied)
Experience : At least one (1) year experience in pharmacy setting preferred.
Training : Customer Service Training
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carries out clerical duties such as typing, editing, reproducing, scanning, etc.
- Implements all written policies and procedures that govern the Medical Supply Unit.
- Dispenses medicines and supplies to the Nursing Services Department if the need arises.
- Performs work incidental or preparatory to the work of the pharmacist.
- Performs routine physical count and expiry monitoring of all inventory in the Medical Supply Unit.
- Pre-package drugs and supplies and arrange them in shelves.
- Maintains the systematic arrangement of medicines and labeling of shelves. Ensures adherence to the recommended storage for medicines.
- Informs Pharmacists of low stock level items.
- Prepares medicines and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Carries out clerical duties such as typing, editing, reproducing, scanning, etc.
- Prepares requisition for Departmental supplies and equipment.
- Assists the Medical Supply Unit Lead in the safekeeping, lending, charging and monitoring of all medical devices.
- Addresses complaints which may arise within the Unit.
- Attends training programs and learning sessions for the enhancement of professional, technical, and personal proficiencies.
