A Pollution Control Officer inspects and investigates sources of pollution to protect the public and environment and ensure conformance with regulations and ordinances.
Pollution Control Officers examine and update permits, licenses, applications and records of compliance. They prepare and present reports and determine the nature of code or law violations and actions to be taken. Other activities include conducting maintenance of systems and proper storage of regulated chemicals.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
- Familiarity with Philippine Environmental Laws
and Regulations
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems
- Knowledgeable in facilitating solid waste disposal, hazardous waste including emergency response
- Familiarity in facilitating ambient test, Stack Emission Test, water sampling, monitoring sewage treatment facility
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer literacy
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical/Environmental/health/ safety), Chemistry or any related technical course.
- With at least 2 years of work related experience.
- Relevant Certificates from DENR for Pollution Control Officer is also required.
- Competent in pollution control and environmental management established by the DENR.
- Has completed PCO training courses and seminars by a DENR-EMB accredited and recognized organization or institution.
