Project Coordinator – Maternal and Child Health (BARMM Project)

About the Project
Plan International Pilipinas will implement a critical maternal and child health initiative in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), where health outcomes remain among the poorest in the country. This project, funded by UNFPA, addresses systemic barriers to safe pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care in underserved municipalities with limited health infrastructure.
Target areas include Datu Montawal and Pagalungan in Maguindanao del Sur, and the SGAs of Tugunan, Malidegao, and Ligawasan. The project focuses on:
- Repair and refurbishment of birthing facilities
- Community organizing and inter-village health cooperation
- Deployment of skilled health personnel (midwives and doctors)
The Role: Project Coordinator
As Project Coordinator, you will lead the strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project. You will supervise the project team and coordinate with local partners and stakeholders at the regional and provincial levels to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes and compliance with donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead stakeholder mapping and engagement strategies
· Supervise community diagnosis and participatory planning with inclusive representation (e.g., girls, youth, LGBTQI, persons with disabilities)
· Oversee the implementation of project activities across all covered communities
· Prepare and manage the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) and sustainability plan
· Conduct quarterly performance reviews and lead project exit strategies
· Coordinate with partners and government agencies for collaborative efforts
· Ensure timely submission of reports to the Business Development and Grants Unit
· Promote staff welfare, safety, and adherence to security protocols
· Support emergency response activities when required
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related fields (Master’s degree is an advantage)
· Relevant training in Community Development, Project Management, Child Protection, GBV, Risk Management, and Health
· Minimum 5 years of experience in program management within an international NGO setting
· Proven supervisory experience and ability to manage teams in complex environments
· Experience working in conflict-affected or disaster-prone areas is highly desirable
· Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills
· Willingness to conduct fieldwork in remote and underserved areas
· Must be a Filipino citizen and currently based in the Philippines
