JOB SUMMARY:
The QHSE Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards within the plantation. This role plays a key part in promoting safe, compliant, and sustainable operations in line with company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health & Safety
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety inspections across all plantation activities.
- Develop and implement health and safety procedures, including emergency response plans and safe work practices.
- Facilitate HSE training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and hazardous conditions; recommend and monitor corrective actions.
- Ensure appropriate use, maintenance, and availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations concerning land use, chemical management, and waste disposal.
- Monitor key environmental parameters such as soil health, water usage, and pollution levels.
- Support sustainability initiatives including biodiversity conservation, reforestation, and
- carbon footprint reduction.
- Assist with environmental audits and certification processes (e.g., ISO 14001).
Quality Control
- Implement and oversee quality control measures throughout plantation and processing.
- Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to DENR rules and policies.
- Assist in internal audits for relevant quality and safety certifications (e.g., FEC, IFMAP etc.).
- Collaborate with agronomists and production teams to uphold product quality standards.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, training sessions, permits, inspections, and audits.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities during site inspections or compliance audits.
- Prepare and submit regular QHSE reports (monthly and annually).
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and actively participate in QHSE meetings and reviews.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in HSE standards (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an agricultural or plantation environment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Salary: Salary is open to negotiation
