Job Scope:
The Safety Officer ensures compliance with occupational health and safety standards at all work sites and within production and warehouse facilities. The role involves identifying hazards, conducting safety training, enforcing safety protocols, and supporting the implementation of risk-reduction measures to prevent accidents, especially during furniture fabrication, assembly, and installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor workplace conditions ( warehouse, delivery, and site installation) to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify unsafe practices, hazards, and non-compliance with PPE usage.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; prepare reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and implement safety programs, drills, and toolbox talks tailored to production and installation environments.
- Conduct safety orientation for new hires and coordinate mandatory training (e.g., BOSH, COSH, fire drills).
- Maintain safety logs, inspection reports, incident records, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with team leads and supervisors to ensure safe handling and use of equipment and materials.
- Ensure all workers, including subcontractors and site personnel, follow company safety policies and government regulations.
- Liaise with DOLE and other regulatory bodies for inspections, compliance, and reporting.
- Recommend and oversee proper use of safety signage, gear, and hazard control measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer (SO2, SO3, or higher depending on project scale).
- With at least 2–3 years of relevant experience in safety roles, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or furniture installation.
- Certified in Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) and/or Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH).
- Strong knowledge of OSH standards, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
- Good leadership, communication, and documentation skills.
- Physically fit and willing to travel to project sites or supervise field activities as needed.
- Familiarity with safety risks specific to carpentry, metalwork, and on-site furniture installation is a plus.
