Job Summary:
The Inclusive Education Specialist at PCIS is a dual-role position that combines the responsibilities of a Special Education (SPED) Teacher and a Behavioral Therapist. This role is designed to provide comprehensive support to students with special needs, addressing both their academic and behavioral development in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Special Education (SPED) Teaching:
o Assess students' skills to determine their needs and develop suitable teaching plans.
o Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students with various disabilities.
o Implement and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), assessing students’ performance and tracking their progress.
o Use various teaching methods and tools, including technology, to increase learning and engagement.
o Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure student support across various environments.
o Manage classroom dynamics and behavior through positive and structured interventions.
· Behavioral Therapy:
o Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to individual student needs.
o Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify the causes of behavioral issues.
o Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions to address behavioral and emotional challenges.
o Train and support teachers and staff in implementing behavior management strategies.
o Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and make necessary adjustments.
o Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to develop consistent behavior management strategies across different settings.
