The Accounting Officer is responsible for managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions related to frozen meat trading and cold storage operations. The role includes overseeing receivables and payables, inventory costing, reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial reporting to support the company's operational and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting:
- Maintain and update accounting records and systems, including journals, ledgers, and financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions related to sales, purchases, expenses, and inventory.
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts regularly.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process supplier invoices, check payment schedules, and ensure timely disbursements.
- Monitor customer accounts, follow up on collections, and update aging reports.
- Reconcile billing statements with third-party logistics or cold storage partners.
- Inventory and Cost Management:
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics staff to monitor frozen meat inventory.
- Maintain accurate costing records, including landed cost, cold storage fees, and spoilage.
- Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation and assist with physical inventory counts.
- Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Prepare and file BIR tax returns (VAT, withholding tax, etc.) and ensure timely compliance.
- Assist with government regulatory filings and document submissions.
- Maintain updated books of accounts and ensure audit readiness.
- Financial Reporting:
- Generate periodic financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide budget variance analysis and cost control support to management.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end reports and audit schedules.
- Other Tasks:
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and suppliers as needed.
- Support the Finance Manager in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial data and documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or any related field.
- At least 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in trading or cold storage industry is an advantage.
- Knowledgeable in BIR regulations and tax compliance.
- Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or any ERP system).
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPA license is a plus but not required.
