Job Overview: An Accountant with bookkeeping and taxation experience is responsible for managing financial records, preparing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and tax laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements and financial accounts.
- Bookkeeping:
- Process invoices, payments, and payroll in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and summaries for management.
- Tax Preparation and Compliance:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Stay updated on tax regulations and ensure compliance with all tax laws.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Audit Support:
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Implement recommended changes to improve financial processes and controls.
- Client Consultation:
- Provide financial advice and support to clients regarding accounting, bookkeeping, and tax matters.
- Address client inquiries and resolve any issues related to their accounts.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) for record-keeping and reporting.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an accountant or bookkeeper, with a strong understanding of taxation.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Working Conditions:
