Job Summary:
The Baker / Food Application Specialist plays a dual role in supporting product application testing, formulation development, and quality evaluation of JNJ Oil Industries Inc.'s edible oil, shortening, margarine, and specialty fats. The role requires practical baking expertise and the ability to assess the functionality and performance of fats in different baking applications. The candidate must possess a National Certificate (NC) in Bread and Pastry Production or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake various test products (e.g., breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods) using company-produced fats and oils for evaluation and R&D purposes.
- Assist in product application tests to assess texture, taste, stability, and shelf-life performance of new and existing formulations.
- Collaborate with the R&D and Quality teams to develop and test new recipes that highlight the functionality of company products.
- Conduct sensory evaluations and provide feedback for formulation improvement.
- Support technical demonstrations, customer trials, and product presentations when needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the test kitchen and baking equipment in compliance with food safety standards.
- Accurately document procedures, observations, and results of baking trials.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety protocols, and occupational safety standards at all times.
Qualifications:
- With National Certificate (NC) in Bread and Pastry Production or similar (TESDA-accredited).
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in baking or food manufacturing, preferably in a QA or R&D setting.
- Strong knowledge in baking science, ingredient functionality, and food preparation methods.
- Experience working with fats, margarine, and shortening in industrial or commercial baking is an advantage.
- Good communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Willing to work onsite and perform hands-on baking tasks in a food manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily laboratory/test kitchen and production floor setting.
- May require occasional extended hours for product testing and trials.
