Job Summary:
The Chief Mechanic oversees and supervises all mechanical repair, maintenance, and servicing activities of heavy equipment, plant machinery, and company vehicles. Can work independently when required. He ensures that all units are maintained at optimum efficiency, safe operating conditions, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Provides technical expertise, ensures timely completion of maintenance and repair schedules.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Supervise, coordinate, and assign tasks to heavy equipment mechanics and other subordinate staff.
2. Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all heavy equipment, plant machinery, and company vehicles.
3. Conduct inspections and approve diagnostic results, ensuring proper fault identification and repair methods.
4. Oversee major repairs, adjustments, and replacement of defective parts, ensuring adherence to manufacturer’s standards and company guidelines.
5. Ensure completion of repair works within set timelines and monitor quality of workmanship. 6. Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, and parts inventory.
7. Coordinate with Operations and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and ensure availability of equipment when needed.
8. Ensure that all mechanics and repair activities comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
9. Prepare and submit regular reports on equipment condition, repair activities, and maintenance performance to management.
10. Evaluate recurring mechanical issues and recommend improvements or upgrades to enhance equipment performance.
11. Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical problems, working hands-on when necessary.
Qualifications:
* At least 3 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
* Willing to be assigned in Sto. Tomas Batangas
