MDBI Construction Corp. is seeking a talented Environment and Safety Associate to join our team on a contract basis in Makati City.
Your role
- Be responsible for the site environment and adhere to the obligations and recommendations set out in the CEMP checklist also placing the same responsibility on all sub-contractors through pre-start meetings and the approval of their detailed method statements and risk assessments.
- Provide all persons on the project with information on the risks to health, safety & environment and the safe working practices to be implemented, to eliminate or reduce those risks to acceptable levels.
- Carry out all works without undue inconvenience and nuisance to members of the public and surrounding residents.
- Ensure that necessary permits, clearances and licenses from regulatory bodies are secured by the PCO and COG.
- Ensure safe handling, transport, and storage of materials and chemical substances that will be incorporated into the project scope, or to be used on the project.
- Be familiar and facilitate the implementation of the recommended mitigation measures of the CEMP;
- Conduct periodic environmental audits at the construction site in according with the CEMP conditions;
- Educate or conduct relevant training to the construction project team about the environmental management measures of the CEMP;
- Recommend corrective actions for any environmental non-compliance incidents of the construction site
- Compile the inspection and audit reports, highlighting any non-compliance issues with appropriate corrective actions for implementation. Provide also a report regarding good compliance/good practices of the CEMP.
- Conduct monthly or periodic meetings with project team to monitor compliance of the project with CEMP;
- Authorized to stop observed activities with potential environmental impact and/or with imminent danger and recommends corrective action prior to re-starting the activity. Issues immediate stoppage order instructions to work activities that present imminent danger and life-threatening conditions. Recommends corrective actions that will address hazards completely and evaluates its effectiveness before allowing the activity to proceed.
- Conducts daily, weekly and monthly safety inspections of the work area and facilitates discussions with other team members to determine the most appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepares Safety Observation Reports and provides recommendations and guidelines on how to comply based on existing legal and company standards. Participates in providing appropriate and timely notification, investigation, reporting and recording of facts in case of ES related incidents.

- Monitors the housekeeping activities. Regularly monitor the project MRF and hazardous waste storage area and provide timely report and updates.
- Any other responsibilities that may arise as instructed by direct supervisor or MDC Head Office.
