1. Objective:
The gardener is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens, plants and open spaces
of Jardin de Miramar.
2. Qualifications:
Relevant experience in the following:
a. Cultivating, maintaining and propagating plants
b. Maintaining overall health and aesthetics of the property’s greeneries
c. Maintaining in good condition the tools and equipment for gardening
3. Responsibilities
a. Plant Care and Maintenance
1) Planting: Planting trees, shrubs, flowering plants according to garden design and target areas
2) Watering: Ensuring that plants and grass receive the correct amount of water
3) Pruning and Trimming: Regularly cutting of plants and trees for growth, improvement of
appearance and maintenance of health
4) Fertilizing: Applying fertilizers and compost to improve soil quality and growth of plants, trees
and grass
5) Pest Control: Identifying and treating pest and disease problems using appropriate methods (use
of pesticides, organic solutions or introducing beneficial insects)
b. Soil Management
1) Soil Preparation: Testing and preparing soil by adding necessary nutrients or adjusting
pH levels.
2) Mulching: Applying mulch to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil
temperature.
3) Aerating: Loosening the soil to improve air circulation and promote root growth.
c. Garden Design and Landscaping
1) Designing Layouts: Creating aesthetically pleasing garden designs that may include
flower beds, vegetable patches, and decorative elements.
2) Hardscaping: Installing non-plant elements like paths, patios, fences, and water features.
3) Tree Planting: Selecting the right species and planting trees with proper spacing and care.
d. Garden Equipment and Tools Handling
1) Maintaining Tools and Equipment: Ensuring that tools (e.g., grass cutter, hedge
trimmers, rake, hose, etc ) are cleaned and properly maintained.
2) Operating Machinery: Using specialized equipment like grass cutter, leaf blowers, or
chainsaws safely.
e. Waste Management
1) Composting: Creating and managing compost piles to recycle organic waste back into
the garden.
2) Disposing of Garden Waste: Clearing up leaves, branches, weeds, and other plant waste.
f. General Garden Cleanliness
1) Weeding: Regularly removing weeds to maintain the appearance and health of the
garden.
2) Clearing Debris: Keeping pathways, lawns, and flower beds free of fallen leaves,
branches, and other debris.
f. Garden Security: protecting gardens, tool and equipment from theft and damage
