Job Summary:
The Internal Auditor is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the organization. This role ensures that the company complies with internal policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and financial best practices. A key focus of the role is ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial transactions—particularly those related to disbursement activities. The Internal Auditor also identifies areas for improvement, promotes operational efficiency, and provides actionable insights to enhance overall controls. This position reports directly to the CEO and the Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:1. Disbursement Audit
- Cross-check supporting documents (e.g., POs, invoices, approvals) prior to fund release
- Verify accurate computation of payments for suppliers, rent, marketing, and reimbursements
- Ensure all approvals align with the Delegation of Authority matrix
- Detect and flag duplicate or suspicious disbursements
2. General Accounting Review
- Validate the accuracy of accounting entries and records
- Review monthly reconciliations of cash and bank accounts
- Ensure expense classifications are aligned with the company’s internal Chart of Accounts
3. Policy and Compliance Checks
- Ensure all disbursements comply with internal financial policies
- Check BIR compliance, including VAT, withholding tax, and related documentation
- Confirm that all financial records are complete and audit-ready for external auditors
4. Internal Controls Assessment
- Review segregation of duties among request, approval, and release functions
- Identify risks of fund misuse, errors, or policy violations
- Recommend improvements to strengthen controls and safeguard assets
5. Audit Reporting
- Prepare and present audit summaries after each disbursement review cycle
- Escalate high-risk issues to the Head of Operations or CEO promptly
- Propose corrective actions such as process fixes or staff retraining when needed
Qualifications:Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification is a strong advantage
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in internal or external auditing
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal control frameworks, and risk management practices
- Proven track record in auditing disbursements and reviewing financial transactions for accuracy, compliance, and policy adherence
Technical & Soft Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and common financial or ERP systems
- Exceptional attention to detail with a sharp analytical and critical-thinking mindset
- Strong report writing, audit documentation, and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to coordinate across departments
- Highly organized, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple audit engagements, and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrates integrity, professional skepticism, and a strong sense of accountability
